“Jon Bruning is a true conservative who understands the importance of enforcing our immigration laws and protecting our citizens,” said Sheriff Arpaio. “Attorney General Bruning has a consistent record of supporting law enforcement and cracking down on criminals. I trust his leadership and know he’ll be a strong conservative voice in the Senate.”

Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police Endorses Bruning

Lincoln, NE- Nebraska Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Jon Bruning announced today he has the endorsement of the Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police. Bruning is running to replace retiring Senator Ben Nelson.

“Jon has proven himself as a leader in Nebraska, from his time in the state legislature and while he has been the Nebraska Attorney General,” said John Francavilla, President of the FOP. “We need leaders in Washington ready to take on the challenges that our Great Nation is facing. We know that Jon is the right person to represent Nebraska.”

“I’m humbled and proud to have the endorsement of the Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police,” said Bruning. “Nebraska’s law enforcement community sacrifices every day to make our state a better place to live and raise a family. I’m honored to have their support.”

The Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police represents more than 2,600 law enforcement professionals across Nebraska. The FOP is also part of a national organization of more than 325,000 law enforcement officers employed by city, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

Bruning has previously been endorsed by Tea Party Express, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood, and 78 Nebraska County Sheriffs and Police Chiefs.

“It’s not often an incumbent reveals internal polling showing the opposition within the margin of error of upending him as a sign of confidence. But according to Sen. Ben Nelson’s own numbers, from the Democratic Hickman Analytics, he is up just 2 points against Republican Attorney General Jon Bruning. And this is after the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has devoted hundreds of thousands of dollars to propping him up. Public polling still shows Nelson down. No wonder he’s no lock to run again.

Republicans successfully billed it as the “Cornhusker Kickback” — a special deal that would have exempted Nebraska’s obligation for Medicaid expansion in exchange for Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson’s vote for the health care bill. The provision was ultimately killed, but Nelson is still trying to shake the lingering anger as he weighs a precarious reelection fight.

State Attorney General Jon Bruning, one of Nelson’s Republican challengers who joined the legal fight, established the website CornHuskerKickback.com months ago to showcase the issue.

Harry Reid’s selection of Democrat campaign chair Patty Murray to the joint debt committee and called on Senator Ben Nelson to denouce the appointment. The Committee was created by the recent debt ceiling agreement and is tasked with finding $1.5 trillion in debt reduction. Each party leader in the House and Senate received three selections which will compose the twelve member committee.

“It is unconscionable that Majority Leader of the Senate Harry Reid would send the message to every special interest group in the country that the road to influencing the debt committee product runs through Senate Democrats’ reelection campaign,” said Bruning. “This is an explicit pay-to-play appointment that has no place in Washington and is indicative of the backroom dealings Senator Nelson and his colleagues have been engaged in for years. Senator Nelson should immediately denounce this appointment and ask his Leadership to appoint one of his colleagues whose primary responsibility isn’t raising money and electing Democrats to the Senate.”
